Today, Year 6 visited Leyton Hall to take part in an event led by the ‘Crucial Crew’.
This entailed 7 different workshops learning about all the emergency services. We spent time with:
The fire service – learning how to stay safe in the event of a fire but also what everyday items could be potential hazards
St John’s Ambulance service – here we learnt about DR ABCD and how to put people into the recovery position. We also got to have a go at some CPR too!
The Police – here we learnt about how to stay safe online and who we could turn to for help.
We also learnt all about Road safety and competed in teams in a quiz! This was fun!
The Coastguard – here we learnt about their role; how to stay safe around water and what to do if we do manage to get caught out.
Mental Health and Well-being service – in this workshop, we discussed our varying emotions and learnt some strategies to help us relax and calm when needed.
All in all, it was an absolutely brilliant afternoon and one the children (and adults) took a lot from! Well done Year 6!
